Fifth grade students at Waverly Avenue Elementary School recently completed a research project led by library media specialist Louann Cronin in which they learned the intricacies of research and gathering important information using the variety of tools available to them.
As part of the project students utilized Chromebooks to select a nonfiction topic for the focus of their project and then gathered information through extensive research. Students wrote thesis statements, made outlines and then utilized their outlines to create a five-paragraph research paper.
Among the many topics students covered in their projects included marine life, earthquakes, soccer and volcanos.
