Founding member of Run-DMC and legendary hip-hop artist Darryl “DMC” McDaniels visited Sagamore Middle School on Feb. 6 to speak with sixth graders. McDaniels read his book, “Darryl’s Dream” to students, which shared his own experience with bullying and overcoming adversity. Students were empowered to celebrate differences and collaborate with one another.
The sixth graders were in for a treat as McDaniels performed “Darryl’s Rap,” verses he wrote in elementary school. The rap encouraged students to use the power of words in a positive way and create a vision for the future, reminding them that dreams do come true.
