The students in Mr. Jannace’s diversity club and Mrs. Travaglia’s foreign language honor society facilitated the annual Multicultural Appreciation Event on May 23 at Sachem High School East.

The event was styled as an interactive museum exhibit with activities, learning opportunities, food to sample and a variety of recorded and live musical performances to enjoy. The members of the two clubs collaborated to offer several stations featuring Henna/Mehndi art, Polish folklore and dancing, Ecuadorian Trompo lessons, American Sign Language lessons, and the opportunity to learn and play games from around the world. Students played everything from Carrom, Ludo, Tombola and Loteria, to Spikeball and volleyball!

Cultures from the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia were represented at the all-day event in the main gym. It was a great success!
