At the 75th annual Long Island Science Congress, two students from Sachem High School East earned high honors awards.

Grace Bourgal received high honors in the microbiology category and Patrick Cahill earned high honors in ecology. Additionally, Patrick won the Robert Nelson Memorial Award, with a $100 prize, and the Green Planet Award, a $50 prize.

The Long Island Science Congress is the largest science fair competition on Long Island. It exhibits projects by students of Nassau and Suffolk County middle schools, junior high schools and senior high schools, and is sponsored by the Long Island sections of the Science Teachers Association of New York State.
