The Sachem Central School District named Andrew Larson as its interim assistant superintendent for student support and administration at its July 24 meeting. Mr. Larson will step into this new role on Aug. 1.

Mr. Larson’s administrative experience in Sachem is extensive. Most recently, he served as principal of Sachem High School North. In this role, Mr. Larson implemented the nine-period schedule to align with state mandates, designed new courses for students and redesigned procedures focusing on student and staff safety. He has also held assistant principal roles at both High School East and North, principalships at Hiawatha Elementary School and Sagamore Middle School and was formerly the district’s assistant personnel administrator.

Mr. Larson began his career in the Sachem Central School District in 2002 as an elementary classroom teacher at Waverly Elementary School. He received his bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College, his master’s degree from St. John’s University and holds several professional building and district leader certifications.

While Mr. Larson enters this new role, Mr. James Nolan, a familiar face to the district, will serve as interim principal of Sachem High School North for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Nolan had been Sachem’s superintendent of schools before retiring in 2016.
