Sachem High School East student Kailyn Lamb was named a finalist in the 2024 Student Playwriting Competition, sponsored by the New York State Theatre Education Association. Each year, NYSTEA holds the competition to help student playwrights develop their work. Students submit a play that is five minutes in length, which is then reviewed by a panel of readers from the theatre and theatre education fields.

As a finalist, Lamb will work with an assigned playwriting mentor who will help guide her through a revision process to bring her play to its full potential. Following revisions, the play will be performed at the NYSTEA Student Conference in January.
