Sachem High School East drama students gathered on Saturday, Oct. 12, to learn from a professional. The East Drama Club invited Frank Gabriel, a Long Island native and professional stage performer, to present an interactive workshop. Gabriel taught students the differences between children’s theater and main stage during his presentation. As part of the workshop, students stepped on stage to perform a one-act play in nine minutes.

Gabriel has performed in several regional and national productions of children’s theater. His workshop helped Sachem students prepare for their upcoming production of “The Wizard of Oz” on Nov. 22, 23 and 24.

The Sachem East Drama Club looks forward to a visit from another Long Island native and professional performer, Erik McCormack, this spring. McCormack was in the original cast of “1776” on Broadway. He will present on utilizing the body and voice together to tell the story of a production.
