At Sachem High School East, Mrs. Erb's yoga classes participated in a fall yoga seminar with the theme Letting Go. This collaborative brainstorming session helped students identify specific issues they wish to let go of, such as stress, overthinking and insecurities, to create space for more positive aspects of life. The exercise aimed to create a safe space for sharing and reflection, fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and emotional well-being. By recognizing these topics, students can begin to understand how yoga and mindfulness can help release negative energy and promote a more positive mindset in their daily lives.
Students were also active participants in the yoga practice portion of the seminar. They completed a restorative yoga session with poses that promoted releasing negative energies. The participation in these yoga poses not only enhanced physical strength and flexibility, but also contributed to improved mental clarity and emotional balance. The skills and poses taught in this seminar can lead to a more positive mindset, allowing students to navigate their academic and personal lives with greater ease and resilience.
