First graders at Hiawatha Elementary School showed off their future career paths during the building’s annual career day parade. Students dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up and paraded in their costumes and uniforms in front of their families. Several careers were represented ranging from first responders, to artists, to health care workers. The first graders performed three songs, and each took a turn announcing their future career on the microphone. The event followed a classroom unit on careers.

Fourth Graders Step Back in Time for Colonial Day thumbnail259462

Hiawatha Elementary School fourth graders explored the Colonial era with immersive classroom lessons. Students stepped back in time during Colonial Day and participated in activities that children would have during that period of American history.

Students and teachers dressed up in Colonial era clothing, used quills and inks to write, practiced math on a slate and participated in a spelling bee. Fourth graders researched everyday life during the Colonial times before recreating it during this annual grade-level event.
