Hiawatha Elementary School

Music is an excellent way to learn and have fun! Singing and playing music develops cognitive and intellectual abilities, enhances literacy and language skills, and is an excellent way to have fun as a team!

Band and Orchestra is open to students in fourth and fifth grade.

Instrumental music screenings start in June for the third grade.

Concerts are held in December and May for fifth grade band and orchestra, as well as fourth and fifth grade choruses.

The fourth grade beginners concert for Band and Orchestra is June, performed in school for students, faculty, and guests.

Additional opportunities are available to those looking to challenge themselves further in music. Hiawatha actively participates in the annual NYSSMA festival, as well as many other events. Several students participate in NYSSMA each year, working towards high achievement in their performances. NYSSMA is available for chorus, band, and orchestra students.
