Three Sachem Soccer Standouts Named to Newsday’s Preseason Top 100
Sachem girls soccer will be well represented on Long Island this fall, with three seniors earning spots on Newsday’s Preseason Top 100 list: Sachem North defenders Mia Savarese and Marissa Ruland, and Sachem East midfielder Camryn Goodman.
Goodman, a Stony Brook commit, is a dynamic, do-everything midfielder who can slot anywhere on the field and play at the highest level. She finished last season with three goals and four assists, and returns as a veteran engine for the Arrows.
Savarese, a Division I Mercer commit, was also singled out by Newsday as one of the island’s top “game-changing” seniors. A lockdown defender who routinely frustrates elite scorers, she anchored a Sachem North back line that powered the team to the postseason before falling to eventual state champion Ward Melville.
Ruland, a Molloy commit, gives Sachem North another stalwart in the back. Known for her toughness and willingness to take on the opponent’s best, she brings physicality and poise to key matchups.
The selections underscore the depth and balance across the Sachem programs, elite defending at North and high-level versatility at East, as all three seniors look to convert preseason recognition into postseason success.
