Hispanic HeritageSeveral Sachem High School students from both Sachem East and Sachem North were recognized by the Town of Brookhaven during a special Hispanic Heritage Celebration held at Brookhaven Town Hall.

The students, honored for maintaining a grade point average of 97 or higher and for their service on the Town of Brookhaven Hispanic Advisory Board, were commended for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to community engagement.

From Sachem East, honorees included Hannah Barkin, Diana Burns, Emily Chomba, Sofia Larrea, Angelika Lemus Lopez, Juliana Nuss, Melissa Pendleton, Samuel Reina, Christopher Sambolin, and Michael Sanchez Jr.

From Sachem North, the students recognized were Aniya Abadia, Naraly Ceballos Laguna, Faith Da Cruz, Anthony Hernandez, and Angelina Liz-Caceres.

While not all students were photographed during the ceremony, each was celebrated for their contributions to the community and dedication to academic excellence.

The Town of Brookhaven Hispanic Advisory Board serves as a liaison between the Hispanic and Latino community and the Town Supervisor, acting as a bridge to ensure representation and advocacy. The Board provides recommendations to the Town Board on policies designed to promote the social and economic well-being of Hispanic residents and all citizens across Brookhaven.

This recognition reflects Sachem’s continued commitment to celebrating diversity, academic achievement, and civic responsibility among its student body.
