Sachem Carpentry Students Explore Career Opportunities at Station Yards
Sachem High School carpentry students recently participated in a “Career and Technical Education” field trip to Station Yards in Ronkonkoma, gaining firsthand insight into real-world career pathways that are developing right in their own community.
The visit provided students with an up-close look at the large-scale construction project and the numerous professional opportunities it presents. From skilled trades to site management and engineering, the trip highlighted how classroom lessons connect to the workforce.
Students had the chance to hear directly from industry professionals from TRITEC, many of whom were not far removed from similar high school career and technical education programs, about their career journeys, daily responsibilities, and the growing demand for skilled workers.
This immersive experience helped bridge the gap between academic learning and hands-on application, showing Sachem students that rewarding, well-paying jobs are being created in their own backyard.
The district’s Career and Technical Education program continues to focus on giving students meaningful exposure to industries and experiences that prepare them for success after graduation.
