Sachem made a strong impression at the inaugural Suffolk County Basketball Media Day, hosted this weekend at Sachem North High School. Boys and girls varsity players and coaches from both Sachem East and Sachem North attended the event, joining teams from across the county to preview the upcoming 2025–26 season.

The gathering marked the first time Suffolk County has held a centralized media day for basketball, allowing student-athletes and coaches to speak with reporters about expectations, preseason excitement, and goals for the year ahead.

Sachem North was well represented on the boys’ side by players Mike Hamel and Luke LaRocca, while Kylie DiMenna, Audrina Emma, and head coach Jimmy Mellor spoke on behalf of the North girls’ program. From Sachem East, boys standouts Danny Kozlowski and Josh Booth joined head coach Dan Celentano to reflect on their offseason growth. East girls’ players Olivia Barone and Sofia Larrea, along with head coach Tom Erb, shared insight into their demanding non-league schedule and readiness for the season ahead.

Before the event officially kicked off, WSHR, 91.9-FM, hosted a one-hour LIVE special from Sachem North, previewing all four Sachem programs. The broadcast featured interviews, analysis, and a behind-the-scenes look at what fans can expect this winter.
