Sachem North's Nick Golding Honored with Sheriff’s Community Leadership Award
Sachem North student-athlete and student-leader Nicholas D.J. Golding was recognized for his outstanding commitment to service and leadership when Errol D. Toulon Jr., Suffolk County Sheriff, presented him with the Sheriff’s Community Leadership Award.
The prestigious honor is awarded monthly to Suffolk County residents and organizations that go above and beyond to support their communities and make a meaningful impact on others' lives. Golding’s dedication to service, both in and out of school, made him a standout recipient.
Nicholas has been a member of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program for four years and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Explorer, a leadership role that reflects his commitment, discipline, and ability to serve as a role model for younger members of the program.
Beyond his involvement with the Sheriff’s Office, Golding has demonstrated a strong passion for helping those in need throughout the Long Island community. Most recently, he organized and donated 3,300 pairs of socks to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless during their November Stuff the Pantry event. His efforts provided critical support to individuals and families facing homelessness during the colder months.
Golding has also served as a Spokesperson for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative, using his voice to raise awareness and advocate for cancer research and support services. In recognition of his compassion and service, he previously received the Unsung Hero Award from the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.
As a student-athlete at Sachem North, Nicholas balances academic responsibilities, athletics, and leadership with a clear sense of purpose and community pride. His recognition by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office highlights the powerful impact young leaders can have when they commit themselves to service.
Sachem North administrators and staff praised Golding for representing the district with integrity, leadership, and heart, qualities that continue to inspire his peers and the wider community.
