Sachem East Student Spreads Holiday Joy Through Art Therapy Initiative
Sachem East junior Aishwarya Kammili led a heartfelt community outreach initiative through her nonprofit, Art4Hearts, donating more than 200 art therapy kits to The Bristal Assisted Living in Holtsville.
The project was made possible through collaboration with Sachem East’s Math and English Honor Societies, whose members generously contributed one to two coloring books and art supplies each. The thoughtfully assembled kits were distributed to Long Island seniors as meaningful Christmas gifts.
Reflecting on the experience, Kammili shared, “The best part of this opportunity was seeing the smiles we were able to create and feeling the joy throughout the Bristal in that moment. It was incredibly meaningful to witness that happiness firsthand, and it reminded all of us how important it is that everyone has the chance to feel that kind of joy in their lives.”
She also expressed her gratitude, adding, “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Math Honor Society advisor, Mrs. Albino, and our English Honor Society advisors, Mr. Wrightson and Mr. Troise. I am beyond grateful to every member who donated and volunteered their time at the Bristal - this project would not have been possible without their generosity and compassion.”
