Sachem Wrestlers Earn All-State Honors at NYSPHSAA Championships

Sachem's wrestling programs once again proved their strength on the state stage, as three Arrows earned All-State recognition at the NYSPHSAA New York State Wrestling Championships, highlighted by historic seasons from standout grapplers Josh Thomas and Tommy Vecchio (North) and Jon Schroff (East).
Junior Josh Thomas delivered a remarkable performance at the state tournament, finishing fourth overall despite entering the bracket as the No. 13 seed. Thomas battled his way to a 4–2 record at the tournament, showcasing the grit and resilience that defined his season.
Thomas closes his junior campaign with an outstanding 47–4 record, marking the second-most single-season wins in Sachem North history. His dominance on the mat was evident in his finishing ability, with 32 pins, which ranks second in program history for a single season.
Senior Tommy Vecchio capped his final high school season with a historic performance of his own. Entering the state tournament as the No. 16 seed, Vecchio fought his way through a difficult bracket to secure a fifth-place finish in the state.
Vecchio’s season will go down as one of the best in Sachem North history. He finished with a 49–2 record, setting the program record for most wins in a single season, while also establishing another milestone with 33 pins, the most in a single season in program history. His achievements came with Thomas close behind him in both categories, illustrating the remarkable season the duo had together.
Adding to the Arrows’ success, Schroff earned All-State honors as well, finishing seventh in New York State after a strong run through the tournament bracket.
The trio’s accomplishments highlight the depth and competitiveness of the Sachem wrestling programs, with each athlete demonstrating exceptional dedication, toughness, and pride while representing the Arrows on New York’s biggest high school wrestling stage.
