Twenty students from Sachem East’s Fashion and Sewing program recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a hands-on experience in New York City’s historic Garment District.

Accompanied by teachers Ms. Lopez and Ms. Lovascio, the group participated in a guided tour that highlighted the rich history of clothing manufacturing in New York City, once the epicenter of the American fashion industry.

Students had the unique opportunity to visit a working factory specializing in fabric flowers, intricate designs featured at the Met Gala, and worn by notable celebrities. The visit offered an inside look at the craftsmanship and creativity behind high-end fashion details.

The trip provided students with valuable real-world insight into the fashion industry, connecting classroom concepts with professional practice and inspiring the next generation of designers and creators.
