Wenonah Elementary Captures Title at Second Annual Sachem Games

Wenonah Elementary earned bragging rights and the championship trophy at the second annual Sachem Games, a districtwide physical fitness competition featuring top fifth-grade physical education students from all 10 Sachem elementary schools.
Held at Sachem High School North, the event brought together students for a series of four athletic and fitness-based challenges designed to test endurance, agility, teamwork and overall physical performance. At the conclusion of the competition, points from each event were tallied to determine the overall standings. Wenonah emerged as the overall champion, while Tamarac and Nokomis also earned top finishes.
Students qualified for the Sachem Games through their physical education classes after excelling in PACER fitness testing at their respective schools. The event highlighted not only athletic ability, but also sportsmanship, perseverance and school pride.
Peer leadership students from Sachem North played an important role throughout the day, serving as coaches, mentors and scorekeepers while assisting with event operations and point totals.
The games were organized by Cayuga Elementary physical education teacher Joe Scholz, who helped coordinate the districtwide event and create an engaging experience for students across Sachem.
The annual competition continues to grow as a celebration of student fitness, teamwork and the importance of healthy lifestyles throughout the district.
