Sachem East’s Sofia Larrea Named to National Football Foundation Golden Eleven
Sachem East senior quarterback Sofia Larrea has been selected to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Golden Eleven Team, earning recognition as one of Suffolk County’s top scholar-athlete flag football players.
The prestigious honor celebrates student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence both on the field and in the classroom, highlighting the growing impact of girls' flag football across Long Island.
Larrea has built an impressive resume during her time at Sachem East. She carries a 103 weighted GPA and scored a 1300 on the SAT while balancing a demanding academic and athletic schedule.
A three-time All-County selection from 2024 through 2026, she also earned Second Team All-Long Island honors in 2025 and served as team captain during the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Beyond flag football, Larrea is a member of the varsity basketball team and has been heavily involved in student leadership. She previously served as treasurer of the Student Government and currently serves as secretary. Her commitment to academics is reflected through her membership in the National, Math, History and Spanish Honor Societies, while she is also active in the Sustainability Club.
Larrea’s dedication to service extends beyond school as well. She volunteers as a youth flag football coach and regularly participates in school-based fundraising initiatives, serving as a role model for younger athletes in the community.
Being named to the NFF Golden Eleven places Larrea among an elite group of Suffolk County student-athletes recognized for embodying the values of scholarship, leadership, service and athletic achievement.
Her selection is another proud milestone for the Sachem East flag football program and a testament to the hard work, character and commitment she has displayed throughout her high school career.
