Bella Galeas Delivers Historic Three-Event Win at Suffolk Indoor Championships
Sachem East junior Bella Galeas continues to prove her athletic versatility — and dominance — well beyond the soccer field.
At the Suffolk large school indoor track and field championships, Galeas turned in a historic performance, winning three individual events in one meet.
Galeas opened the day by capturing the 55-meter dash in 7.32 seconds, a time that would ultimately be her narrowest margin of victory. She followed with a record-breaking run in the 300 meters, clocking 40.62 to surpass the previous meet record of 40.77 set in 2019. She capped off her championship effort in the long jump, soaring 18 feet, 3½ inches to secure her third win of the day. No other athlete at the meet won more than one individual event.
The performance adds to an already impressive résumé for the multi-sport standout. During last year’s indoor season, Galeas claimed county titles in the 300 meters and long jump. She carried that success into the outdoor season, where she won Suffolk championships in the 400 hurdles and long jump.
“It feels great to put my name in the Suffolk County record book,” Galeas said. “Since my freshman year, I realized track was something I really wanted to pursue. It’s rewarding to see the work pay off and to know I’m becoming part of something special.”
With her latest championship performance, Galeas continues to raise the bar for Sachem athletics — and her best may still be ahead.
