Sachem Hosts Blessings in a Backpack’s Race to Feed Event, Helping Provide Weekend Meals for Long Island Children

Sachem welcomed 16 teams of volunteers from across Long Island for this year’s Blessings in a Backpack Race to Feed event, packing 4,600 bags of food to help children facing food insecurity.

The effort supports more than 1,500 children who will receive weekend food through the program this school year, including more than 400 Sachem students.

The program’s reach and fundraising efforts continue to grow thanks to community members' generosity and volunteers' commitment. Their support helps children access reliable food when school meals are unavailable on weekends.

Sachem extends its gratitude to all participating teams, donors and community supporters, with special thanks to John Ammirati, Blessings in a Backpack’s Long Island program coordinator, for his stewardship and leadership in bringing this effort together.
