Sachem East’s AP U.S. History students recently embarked on an enriching trip to New York City, guided by teachers Ms. Bongiorno and Mrs. Melandro. The journey began at the Tenement Museum, where students explored the preserved apartments of immigrant families, gaining insight into their struggles and triumphs.
Next, the group enjoyed lunch at Essex Market before heading to Battery Park to board the ferry for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Standing beneath Lady Liberty and walking through Ellis Island’s historic halls provided a powerful connection to America’s immigrant past.
The trip offered a meaningful, hands-on learning experience, bringing history to life and leaving students with lasting memories of the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
