Sachem High School North Class of 2024 graduate Kaylise McClure was recognized by the Board of Education for receiving Newsday’s 2024 Marcus Henry Award. This top honor is given annually to a Long Island high school student who excels in the classroom, in athletics and displays community leadership.

McClure was a two-year varsity captain on Sachem North’s field hockey team. This season, she was named Division I All-State goalie, Newsday first team All-Long Island, a News 12 Scholar Athlete, Division I Goalie of the Year and received the Section XI Exceptional Senior Award. In addition to her excellence on the field, Kaylise balanced athletics with academics, other extracurriculars, work and volunteering as an EMT.

“Kaylise is kind, loyal, dedicated and hardworking. She is one of the most humble athletes I have ever coached – always showing genuine respect for teammates, coaches and opponents,” said coach Carly Sharp.

The Board of Education and administrators congratulated Kaylise and wished her the best as she continues her field hockey career and majors in biomedical sciences at Mercy University this fall.
