At the Dec. 18 Board of Education meeting, Team Sachem was recognized for being the top fundraiser for this year’s Town of Brookhaven Polar Plunge, benefitting Special Olympics New York. This year, the team grew to more than 60 members and raised more than $32,000. This milestone makes Team Sachem the top fundraising team and school of the Brookhaven Polar Plunge, as well as the top team of all Long Island polar plunge events. Special Olympics New York presented Team Sachem with the 2024 Cool School Challenge Championship trophy.
