Six Sachem Central School District students were named Commended Students as part of the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Crystal Soo-Hon Marano, Michael Mauro and Ty Riccobene from Sachem High School East and to Robin Gillespie, Saket Reddy Kusuma and Avi Talsania from Sachem High School North.

Around 34,000 of the highest scorers on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) from around the country received letters of Commendation. This recognizes their academic promise, and while these students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some do become candidates for special scholarships sponsored by outside corporations.

The district congratulates these students on this prestigious honor.
