At its May 8 meeting, the Sachem Central School District Board of Education recognized several winter season student-athletes and coaches for their accomplishments. East cheerleading coach Victoria Aghabekian and North junior varsity girls basketball coach Carly Sharp were both recognized for their postseason Coach of the Year Honors.

Following the coaches’ recognition, student-athletes were called onto the stage for their achievements. The East cheerleading team was celebrated for winning the New York State championship. Next, High School North student Kaylise McLure was honored as a News 12 Scholar Athlete Award recipient. The final recognition of the evening acknowledged all student-athletes who received all-county or higher honors in their respective winter sports.
