On Oct. 17, Ms. Bongiorno and Mrs. Melandro’s AP US History classes embarked on an exciting field trip to New York City. This trip was designed to enhance students’ understanding of the colonial period in American history by visiting key historical sites that played a pivotal role in shaping the nation. The morning itinerary included stops at Bowling Green, Wall Street, Federal Hall, Trinity Church and Alexander Hamilton's Grave.

After a morning filled with exploration, students enjoyed lunch at Fraunces Tavern, a historic restaurant and museum that dates back to the 18th century. This establishment served as a meeting place for revolutionaries and is where George Washington bid farewell to his officers. The final stop on the trip was the 9/11 Museum, a powerful and emotional experience. The museum is dedicated to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and honors the victims of the attacks. Each site visited offered unique insights into the fabric of American history, from the founding principles of our government to the resilience shown in the face of tragedy.

As students continue their journey through AP U.S. History, these experiences will undoubtedly enhance understanding of the nation today. By studying history through both academic and experiential lenses, students are building a deeper, more meaningful connection to the events that have shaped the United States.
