Tamarac Elementary recently held its first annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser, bringing together students, staff and community members for a great cause. The event raised over $6,000 to support childhood cancer research.

A highlight of the event was the participation of East High School’s cosmetology students, who volunteered their skills to shave the heads of several brave participants, also known as “shavees.” Among them were Eli Aguila, Sebastian Campoverde, Logan Daly, Mr. Macy, Dean Plantamura, Juan Pinilla Leguizamon and Liam Richards.

This fundraiser was especially meaningful as it honored Liam Richards, a student at Nomomis Elementary. His mother, Nicole Richards, a speech teacher at Tamarac Elementary, played a key role in organizing the event and ensuring its success.

The Tamarac community came together in an incredible show of support, demonstrating the power of unity and compassion in the fight against childhood cancer. With such a successful first event, there is great hope that this will become a cherished annual tradition.
