Erin Regan-Gearns Honored for Excellence in Teaching

The New York Council for the Social Studies proudly named Erin Regan-Gearns as Outstanding High School Classroom Teacher. A dedicated educator at Sachem High School East since 2007, Erin is celebrated for engaging students in critical discussions on history, human rights and global affairs. Principal Lou Antonetti commended her for blending rigor with compassion, fostering deep student engagement.

Beyond the classroom, Erin continually expands her expertise, participating in prestigious Holocaust education programs and the National World War II Museum’s summer institute. She shares her knowledge through curriculum development and professional workshops, enriching both students and colleagues.

A graduate of St. Joseph’s University and Stony Brook University, Erin teaches a wide range of social studies courses and advises the Model United Nations. Her innovative methods and dedication make history come alive, inspiring the next generation of informed citizens.
