As part of their enrollment in Sachem East’s Early Childhood Education course, the program’s juniors and seniors are getting firsthand student teaching experience by visiting Tamarac Elementary each day. There are two or three high school students in each of elementary school’s participating classrooms. Students assist by grading papers, working with students one-on-one, reviewing concepts taught in class and teaching whole class lessons. Most of these students are planning to pursue a career in education and are grateful to work with some of our Sachem teachers.
